ADA Accessibility Statement
Physical Accessibility Features at Mayhurst
Mayhurst strives to meet all requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Mayhurst has implemented a plan to remove barriers to access where practicable and possible, and/or provide procedural or other work-arounds to ensure access to all persons. We continue to make additions and other improvements to the property.
NOTE: The natural topography and grade of the entire Orange County is such that there is always some percentage of slope and perfectly flat surfaces are not readily achievable. It may not be practicable nor feasible to completely remove slope as an obstacle, excepting and until major upgrades and improvements are performed by the county and other state and federal bodies.
NOTE: Mayhurst is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and, as such, is exempt many of the requirements to provide full ADA Accessibility. We choose to attempt to provide such access as a service to our guests.
Notwithstanding, some of our physical access features found around our grounds and in common areas available to all guests and include:

Some of the accessibility features include:
· 36-Inch-wide doors
· Hearing and visual assistive Smoke and CO alarms and other devices
- One button "Press for Assistance" to request assistance from Innkeepers
· Mobility features and access into the Dining Room, Guest Room (the Garden Room) and Bath Room
· Roll-in Shower and Stool
· Mobility assistive grip bars
· Mobility assistive showers, showerheads, sink, toilet, tables and bed
The Garden Guest Room is ADA compliant and offers the full suite of accessibility features. Guests may Book this room on-line or via phone (540 672-5597) or e-mail requesting an accessible room. It is part of our internal procedures to attempt to hold this room to the last available so that this room can be assigned to those requiring the features.
We recognize that every individual is unique and that it may be impossible to cover all access situations or personal needs in one statement. Mayhurst is committed to making our website accessible to people with disabilities.
We have endeavored to make our website and reservation system to be accessible for impaired users to see, navigate, interact and understand the content provided as per the World Wide Web Consortium’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 Level AA (WCAG 2.0 AA). However, this is now, and likely always will be, a work in progress and additional work and changes are underway and are occurring almost daily.
We have tested the functionality of this website with the achecker.ca tool and the Google Chrome Accessibility Audit tool and are implementing any changes necessary. We have also tested keyboard only functionality so that people who use screen readers or who can’t use a mouse are able to navigate through the website pages efficiently. We will continue to make every effort to meet evolving accessibility standards.
